( THE RECORDING DIARIES, PART 55 )
I'm not usually the pessimistic type, but I just know that things between me and Lynsey will not work out in the future.
We've had at least three arguments since we left for the summer..... either I upset her too easily or she pisses me off by sending dozens of texts. She's demanding too much of my time. She also thinks I shouldn't be with anyone over the summer and that we should already be a couple, even though we were together for three days and are now apart for three months.
The proof is in irony..... she has sent me four texts in the last two hours apologising for being too clingy and bothersome. Hmm.
Besides, there's a Cardiff girl I have my eye on. We'll see how that goes.

I passed my exams! How the fuck?
Overall marks:
Media: 60 Marketing: 55 Psychology: 45
Phew as! That's like a high 2:2 or maybe even a 2:1 in my major! Get me!
I should be more ecstatic than this, but the news about London is scaring the shit out of me. My friend Kash works about five minutes away from where all of it is happening. I hope she's ok after all of this.....

New icon..... hehe.
So I totally booked myself a gig, completely unintentionally! I was trying to book Micky for a certain venue, but they cannot do the only date we can work with, so I will have to look elsewhere. However while speaking to him, the fella said that he'd checked out the LULUMS website and asked if I could book his band, but unfortunately we didn't have any fitting dates. So I randomly decided to tell him (in the style of vice versa) that I'm a solo musician and that he could book me sometime and hopefully book Micky in the future. So he did! Meze Lounge in Newport on August 8th. How much do I rule?
Open mic tonight I think. Don't know who's going..... might just be me, a girl I know called Nicky who I hardly ever talk to and some of her friends. Woo!

So recording didn't happen yesterday or today. Won't be able to tomorrow and then I think Perry visits his girlfriend on Friday for a number of days. Boooo!
Parents came back today too. No longer may I walk around naked..... I mean err have my music on loud.
Micky Kemp and I have been in contact to try and sort out a few dates in Wales for him, after my parents said that he could use my house as a place to crash after gigs as thanks for having me up in Scotland. Looks like an August 1st to 5th stretch, hopefully covering Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, Bristol and possibly somewhere else, maybe a bit more north. So it's all good!
My life is so fascinating today.....
I'm fucking starving!
.....See?

It's early! Early is bad. The reason I'm up so early is because my phone has had no absolutely signal for three days and apparently is broke, so someone is coming here between 9am and 1pm to give me a replacement. I'll have to pay £13 to get him to come again if I miss 'im. I bet he doesn't turn up at all though.
Ginger was good last night. Hardly much of a crowd there, meaning we could be fairly close t'front and still have breathing space. He played a lot of songs I recognised but didn't know (probably recognised from previous gigs, but I thought I owned everything bar one album now).
.....No wait, just checked iTunes. They're Silver Ginger 5 songs. That'd be it!
Hopefully recording will start today. Two days to make the most of the silence, as my parents get back on Wednesday. Should be easy enough with only four guitar parts to do!
Nothing else to report really. Lynsey is still nuts about me, by the looks of it. That's probably why my phone died..... an overload of texts!

Not worthy of a Recording Diary update, but Please Find Me is being dropped as well, due to a falling out with James. It's weird, so I won't go into it. At least it leaves me with the best four songs to concentrate on. Good stuff.
Live 8 was good today. Velvet Revolver especially. Got me really hyper and singing along; I've really got to form that rock band now.....
Seeing Ginger of The Wildhearts in Newport tomorrow. Soo fucking excited!!1

Friends suck.
Had planned to do open mic, mainly because I had to drop off some Micky Kemp CDs to get him booked in Cardiff sometime. Adam and co made other plans even though it was organised (nice) and then Perry wasn't up for it, although he did offer to drive me in anyway.
So what did I do? I went anyway! All on my lonesome!
Surprisingly, it wasn't boring! Made me appreciate the music more. Plus I had the fittest woman ever (mid-twenties, brunette, pretty face, nice smile, huge boobs) checking me out, so I wanted to stick around for a little while..... at least for the ego boost.
They really like me at Toucan Club. T'other night, they wanted me to headline the whole damn open mic thingy! Scary as. In the end, they rigged it so that I could play more songs than an "average musician" (his words, not mine). Fucking hell.
Anyway..... was a good night. For anyone I sent a text to asking for Who The Fuck Is Alice? lyrics, I didn't sing it in the end. Sorry!
Right, so recording (well, shifting about) starts today. Songs being recorded include:
Fool For Love Good Times Life Hungover Her Loverboy M.F. Please Find Me
LHH was only finished recently. Lyrics can be found at dissolved_guy
Oh and by the way, I am in search of a bass player and a female vocalist for harmonies. Distance doesn't matter (gotta send stuff up to Leicester for drums and mandolin as it is). If anyone can help out, would be much obliged. Ta.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, I'm scrapping LHH. It is, indeed, a big lump of poo.

Lynsey saw the doctor today. She has tonsillitis. Apparently I may have it too. When it is likely to hit? In a few days. When's that? Halfway through Glasto.

So I met Lynsey on Thursday night and have spent a lot of time with her since then, virtually non-stop. She has literally just left to go back home and I probably won't be able to see her until we all go back to uni in September. Badly timed as.
However, she is absolutely awesome and will definitely pursue things when we are back, if possible.
Jam session tonight. Woohoo, should be a fucking great evening. Then there's the final open mic session tomorrow night and a Kermits gig on Tuesday - perhaps their last ever. Back in Cardiff on Wednesday and then..... Glasto, bebeh!

H'oh boy, what a night and day I've had.
The Gradbar Beer Festival started yesterday, "up to 50 ales and ciders," they say. A shitload of people I know were present and the live music was great; a blues-rock band called Tin Pan Alley who played covers by Cream, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Thin Lizzy and many more. I had at least six pints before heading off to Sugarhouse for the final rock night of the academic year. According to sources, I was in a pretty messy state before I even left Gradbar!
Right at the end of the night in Sugarhouse, a girl called Lynsey approached me with a pen, asking me to write something on her t-shirt. By this time, I am fucking drunk. I end up getting on really well with her. Not only that, but Martin pulls one of her friends; Richie also befriends someone else she knows. The result of this involves heading back to their flat. I stayed over, but due to the alcohol fell asleep almost immediately! I was gutted and felt bad for Lynsey too.
What's great is that I really get on with this girl. She's a bit bonkers, has good taste in music (she likes Led Zeppelin!) and she has a great sense of humour, having me laughing non-stop. I mean we awoke at 10am or something and were talking pretty much up until 4pm, when I had to leave.
Girlfriend material, perhaps? Guess we'll have to wait and see.....

Update on Scotland to come.
Ever seen a movie called Almost Famous? I felt like the kid in that. I have a lot of gossip and stories to unload. But not now.
In other news, I am 20. I am no longer a teen..... hurrah!

1984 was great. Half acted, half screened..... one of the main characters didn't act on the stage at all; instead they were showing footage of him running around shooting baddies and such. I was thoroughly impressed! I'm so happy for Laura, what with all of the input she's put into the whole thing.
So tomorrow is the big day..... I have been excited about this for a very long time!
Ohh, I have decided on a setlist:
Volcano (Damien Rice cover) Be Just Fine This Is My Time (3 Colours Red cover) Jonesing For Jones (Wildhearts cover) Fool For Love Living Next Door To Alice (Smokie cover) / Good Times
The last song will have the first verse and first chorus of the Alice song (better known as the "who the fuck is Alice?" song) leading into Good Times. I reckon it will come to just over twenty minutes, which should be about right. Any other suggestions would be appreciated, although they will have to be pretty quick!
Anyway..... I might not be able to update tomorrow, so if not..... enjoy the rest of your week and I will see you all on Monday!
EDIT: Jonesing For Jones has been added (replacing Blue by The Jayhawks) due to someone's request. Yep!
